Born from an off hand comment and grown into an amazing community of models and photographers from around the world.
It was in a conversation with another photographer about personal work, and how when we try to stretch our skillsets, there is not always a home for the resulting work as it can be outlandish ideas or just way beyond what we normally do. “Then make one” was the reply. Just a simple phrase, taken as a challenge, and an unexpected future began to roll out.
The initial response was beyond what I could have imagined. It turns out other people had the same problem and now they have a place for the work that didn’t fit other places. The work no longer had to just sit on the hard drive. Experiments. New ideas. All of it is welcome here. And in it came in droves.
Through each of the generational increments we took, our reach grew and grew. The original website caught on immediately and was an instant hit. People from around the world sent in their work to be shared. New work, old work that was still amazing, crazy and experimental ideas, it all found its home here.
The first magazine “The Latent Pixel” was just as popular. Welcoming of both film and digital work. Adding a print format changed the game. We were now able to showcase the amazing work in a traditional format gave the best work the elevation it deserved. However it all exploded when we added a darker, moody themed magazine, “Darkslide”. Named after the light protector for medium and large format cameras, it shot us to the stratosphere. Catching attention throughout the industry. The submissions of some of the top shooters and them mentioning and suggesting everyone take a look at what we are doing shot us up like a rocket.
Taking a few steps back, but still providing the same solution. This new reincarnation is to carry on the same intent of helping share the work of models and photographers that deserve more attention than they are getting on their own. Giving a home to sets that may not fit in anywhere else. Sets that are too good to just sit on a hard drive now have a home with us.
Come along for the ride. I’m glad your here!
